The Challenge

To design a unique, state-of-the-art brewery and pub in the heart of Vancouver’s craft brewery district that reflects the Red Truck Brewing Company’s bold, snappy 1950s-inspired character.

About this Project

Red Truck Brewing, one of B.C.’s most iconic craft breweries, needed expanded facilities that could keep up with increasing demand for their popular ales. We were tasked with designing a large, integrated brewery-pub that both performs technically and delivers as much character as the Red Truck brand. We pursued a bold design for the 18,500 square metre brewery, advancing a modern, industrial aesthetic bursting with 1950s charm. We integrated unique design features, like a hexagonal tiled floor, snappy fire engine-red accents, corrugated metal, and wood accents, to reflect the iconic Red Truck identity.

Next to the brewery, we designed the Truck Stop, an unapologetic 1950s diner glimmering with 1950s nostalgia. Windows between the Truck Stop with the brewery allow visitors to sneak a glimpse of the glimmering rows of 12-foot high stainless steel brewing kettles and other large-scale equipment. Large scale brewing equipment takes the stage outside the brewery as well – complete with grain silos, a pipe bridge and a grain conveyor crossing the parking lot. But our favourite part? A fully-restored vintage red truck, suspended from cables in the brewery as a symbol of the playful, creative attitude taken in both the architectural and brewing realms.
