About this Project
From humble beginnings in the early 2000s, Central City Brewers and Distillers quickly became a favourite brewer in B.C.’s exploding microbrewing industry and outgrew its production facilities. We were asked to design a bold, 65,000 square foot brewery and distillery that could both deliver technically and aesthetically. Distinctly West-coast in its design vernacular, the completed Central City Brewery and Distillery features striking, v-shaped glulam wood beams and solid wood exterior panels. Huge, cascading windows invite the public inside for a tour and a taste of iconic Red Racer brew.
The building features a 6,000 square foot mezzanine level, a retail space, and a tasting room. Our design incorporates a number of energy and waste conserving technologies, like carbon recovery and extensive wastewater treatment systems, to help reduce environmental impacts of the brewing process. The finished brewery is designed to grow with Central City as they to continue to scale up production for many years to come.
