About This Project

Summer Residence, Bowen Island, B.C.

Perched atop a rocky Bowen Island embankment, this stunning vacation residence nods to traditional West Coast architecture, but with a generous scale that reveals it's contemporary birth and subtle extravagance.
The sheer grade of the landscape proved a challenge to the AMA architect team, but this was overcome through careful planning and excavation.
Natural wood soffit detailing, shingles, fascia and columns define the exterior. The covered apron-style porch, complete with glass guards, harness the stunning ocean view.
The interior features a grand central fireplace that continues up to atrium level, and can be viewed from the mezzanine. A curved "eyebrow" dormer window spies on the pacific panorama. An outdoor shower, hot tub, detached guest "garage", and landscaped paths, complete this beautiful getaway home.
